The Illmythil InquirerWritten and Edited by Elethir Eroval ISSUE ONE Eighthmoon 268.3.3 KING VANISHES — INVESTIGATION BEGINS The King of Illionor, elected by ambassadors to form our interim government these past 300 years, has VANISHED on a "personal" and previously unknown visit to the Illmythil Research Outpost. Researchers, mages, and other people of status are currently not allowed to either enter or leave the outpost. Said Maírion Lamandhel, archmage apprentice,. "The tower where the King vanished is under investigation." Crown Inquisitors are aiding our mages in their quest to determine what has occurred; anyone with information is encouraged to write to this newsletter. ROCKSLIDE INSPECTED — DEMON SAYS "STOP!" An unseasonable (according to Maírion Lamandhel) rockslide earlier this morning was inspected by Illmythil's newly-formed party of adventurers, who discovered fairies and imps arguing over rocks. Said adventurer Amarthiel, "The imps claimed the rocks for their 'boss.'" The adventurers found a cave outside which many upset imps were gathered, and after an earthquake, the boss appeared. A demon, said adventurer Edric, that looked fairly typical, and terrifying; "Size seven," he said, "With horns and a big morganti flail." The demon swung its flail, demanding that the outpost "stop." When Amarthiel tried to ask what needed to be stopped, he was STRUCK by the morganti flail. Several others were killed by the imps, and questions remain: What caused the rockslides, and What does the demon want us to stop doing? The Illmythil Inquirer ISSUE 1.2 Eighthmoon 268.3.3 RUMOR RALLY Rumors abound throughout Illmythil. And yet, here at the Illmythil Inquirer, part of our duty is to discern the truth from the lies. Yet how can we do this when we ourselves do not know the truth? Through reason! Through logic! And through citing our sources! We present to you here three of the many rumors that have swirled throughout Illmythil following our king's disappearance, and answer them as best we may -encouraging our people to think through these things themselves in the future, so that all may come to greater understanding. WAS THE KING SECRETLY A SLIME? Doubtful! For our citation, we take the fact that the King was elected by a group of diplomats, who would in their experience have known the king for many years. Slime researchers in Illmythil report that slimes cannot talk; if the king spoke, which reports say he did, he could not possibly have been a slime. DID THE KING FALL INTO A SINKHOLE? Doubtful! Samaníl Elentaril, apprentice to the Crown Inquisitors, described the tower in which the King vanished as having but one entrance and exit. As the King vanished inside the building, and the building has not fallen into a sinkhole, we can conclude that the King did not fall into a sinkhole (at least, as a cause for his disappearance; now that he has vanished, of course, he might be up to all sorts of sinkhole-related adventures). DID THE KING HAVE A MEDICAL ISSUE? Unclear! While we cannot determine any past medical issues with certainty, what we can say is that medicine is done upon the body, and currently investigators are puzzled by the LACK of the King's body, as it is explicitly his DISAPPEARANCE, rather than his death. We at the Illmythil Inquirer encourage you to be thoughtful and realistic in your rumor-mongering! TALUSES DEFEATED, ROAD CLEARED The local adventuring party of the Illmythil Outpost has defeated several small taluses and one large talus, which were previously blocking the road into town.
